Fanu

This Scandinavian beat-smith has pushed the boundaries of drum and bass in the past year fusing loose, acoustic sounding drum and bass soundscapes with unearthly female vocals, like a kind of Portishead of drum and bass.

With almost ten year’s worth of releases in his back catalogue on labels such as Subtitles, Subtle Audio, Commercial Suicide, Offshore, Darkestral and Lightless Fanu’s sonic range has undoubtedly left a dent in the pocket of many a music lover. His sound can be described as blend of raw funky beats with layered cinematic orchestral strings creating an emotive soundtrack to urban life. Fans of drum and bass and other genres alike have been seduced by his siren song like music, without question a stand out artist in the field of alternative drum and bass.

You simply cannot afford to miss this rare London performance.

Jungle Drummer

Drums – a key underpinning aspect of drum and bass (the clue is in the name), yet the jungle drummer is a unique live performer within the world of drum and bass with ten years of experience playing with the biggest live acts in turntablism, hip-hop, electronica and of course drum and bass.

An integral part of the drum and bass scene’s groundbreaking live act London Elektricity, he provided the beats for over three years for one of the most influential live acts in dance music history, selling out venues across the globe with their critically acclaimed, award winning live shows.

Since 2005 Jungle Drummer has made his own mark on the scene with various projects; he’s performed with numerous other live artists and DJs including hip-hop dons Rodney P and Killa-Kela (Hip-Hop), breakbeat pioneers Coldcut, the Top 20 charting D&B projects Raw Hill Cru with DJ Fresh and Shy FX’s ‘Shake Ur Body’, techno hero A Guy Called Gerald, beat boxers Beardyman and Faith SFX and turntablism wizards DJ Craze and Scratch Perverts.

His stamina-laden, all-out-180bpm performances have dazzled audiences at festivals like
Glastonbury, Global Gathering, DMC World DJ championships, Montreux Jazz
Festival, The Big Chill, PukkelPop, North Sea Jazz festival, Audio River,
NASS Skate Fest and Gatecrasher to name but a few, as well as club events
DMC World DJ Championships, Battle Jam, Warehouse Project, Warning, Ape,
One Nation, Tuesday Club, Chibuku, Metropolis, Ministry of Sound, Random
Concept and the Drum and Bass Arena events.

With a show like no other, great drum and bass heritage and a love of beats The Jungle Drummer’s appearance at technicality is definitely not to be missed!

Equinox

The godfather of science returns to technicality having established his label Scientific Wax to cult status. Still tearing up sound systems across the globe, it’s been too long since he last played but the best things come to those who wait.

Having released drum and bass since the tender age of 15 Equi is a stalwart of the scene yet still undoubtedly one of the freshest, most technically adept, talented djs in the scene today. His sets are a fusion of tearing militant drum and bass and his soundman roots; utilising soundboxes, delays and other sonic tricks like no-one else on the scene.

Equinox’s back catalogue is never ending with early releases with Bizzy B, through to defining moments with Inperspective, Bassbin, Subtle Audio, Metalheadz to name a few, his musical legacy cannot be underestimated.

Welcome home Equi!

Technicality vs Timestretch
Saturday 26th November 10-6am @ THE RHYTHM FACTORY
16-18 Whitechapel Rd., London E1 1EW

Technicality is back again with a very special selection of DJ’s for another high quality night of oldschool beats and for the first time ever. Technicality will be linking up the with the oldschool masters, the Timestretch Crew for a little beat battle for the masses. A top lineup in both rooms, so an event not to be missed

Timestretch was born out of a mutual love of olschool beats and bass and the rising interest amongst clubbers for the older sounds. Ben Kei and Nibbers have been putting on smaller nights over the last couple of years focusing on the less obvious side of the early jungle scene and naturally outgrew the venues they were playing as interest grew stronger. People have been calling out for an old school night with an emphasis on digging deep and not playing the obvious anthems and the Timestretch guys are more than happy to provide it.
